Nigerian rapper and actor Folarin Falana, known as Falz, has dismissed rumors linking him romantically to controversial crossdresser Bobrisky, calling the speculation baseless and misleading.
The controversy erupted after social commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM) leaked an alleged private phone conversation between Falz and Bobrisky during the latter’s legal troubles. The recording sparked a wave of online gossip questioning the nature of their relationship.
Falz clarified that Bobrisky reached out to him solely for legal assistance via Instagram, given Falz’s background as a lawyer and human rights advocate. He stressed that their interaction was purely professional and empathetic, without any romantic or inappropriate undertones.
“I never had any prior relationship with Bobrisky. He messaged me and I tried to help, just as I’ve done with many others. Unfortunately, this one got twisted into something it wasn’t,” Falz stated.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Falz admitted it has made him more cautious about offering help publicly but reaffirmed his commitment to supporting those in need.
To protect his reputation, Falz and his father, renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, have filed a defamation suit against VDM. While the defendant initially challenged the court’s jurisdiction, the objection was dismissed, and the case is now set to proceed.
Falz remains determined to clear his name and hold those spreading falsehoods accountable.
