Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., has reportedly been taken into custody by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) as part of an ongoing investigation into his tax obligations.
According to a statement released by his publicist, Sammy Baah Flex, the inquiry is linked to the purchase of a yellow Lamborghini, which prompted scrutiny from investigators.
Shatta Wale, accompanied by his lawyer Cephas Biyuo, voluntarily presented himself at EOCO’s offices in Accra to cooperate with authorities in the probe.
His management reassured fans that the situation is being handled professionally. “His legal team is fully engaged and actively working with the authorities to resolve this matter. They are taking all necessary steps to secure his release at the earliest opportunity,” the statement said.
The case underscores ongoing efforts by regulatory agencies to ensure tax compliance among high-profile individuals, highlighting the importance of transparency and accountability in financial matters.
