The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially scheduled the 2025 senior high school (SHS) placement exercise to begin on September 17, 2025, urging students and parents to ensure their records are accurate and to avoid falling victim to illegal placement schemes.
At a press briefing in Accra, Acting Director-General of GES, Professor Ernest Kofi Davies, outlined the key dates for the nationwide exercise. Students are expected to report to their assigned schools between October 18 and 20, 2025.
Prof. Davies emphasised that the placement process will be conducted online via www.cssps.gov.gh, ensuring fairness, transparency, and merit-based assignment. Parents and candidates can review their entries—including school codes, gender, and programme selections—between September 1 and 8, 2025, to correct any discrepancies ahead of placement day.
“Any person or entity that claims they can sell school placement is engaging in illegal activity. Placement is free, and the Ministry of Education or GES is not involved in any such business,” Prof. Davies warned, urging the public to report offenders to law enforcement.
To support the process, GES and the Ministry of Education have set up call centres and district-level resolution centres to handle post-placement concerns, which will be operational from September 18, 2025.
Prof. Davies further encouraged students to explore the expanded list of 70 integrated private schools to ease congestion in public institutions.
He also reminded candidates experiencing issues with their WAEC results to engage the Council promptly. The West African Examinations Council recently released provisional results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination, while cancelling or withholding results for a number of students due to irregularities.
With the placement exercise less than a month away, GES is urging students and parents to prepare adequately, verify their information online, and remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes to ensure a smooth and equitable transition into SHS.
