Award-winning gospel artiste Piesie Esther has called for peace and unity within the gospel fraternity, dismissing claims of a strained relationship with fellow musician Empress Gifty.
The rumours surfaced after her appearance on Power FM, where she hesitated before naming Empress Gifty as the winner of Artiste of the Year at the 2025 Ghana Music Awards USA. Her hesitation and comments about not being congratulated for her own award in 2023 fuelled speculation on social media about possible tension between the two.
But in an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, Piesie Esther explained that her caution was deliberate to avoid reviving controversies surrounding Empress Gifty’s win.
“When she won, there was so much talk — some said she deserved it, others disagreed. By God’s grace, the matter settled. Mentioning her name again in that context could have sparked fresh debate, and I didn’t want that,” she clarified.
Piesie stressed that she maintains cordial relations with her colleague: “I don’t have any issue with Empress Gifty. In fact, I don’t know anyone who can say I have a problem with them. Gifty and I talk, and we are fine.”
Her clarification comes at a time when conversations about rivalry in the gospel music space are on the rise. By addressing the matter openly, Piesie Esther hopes to shift the focus back to music and ministry rather than speculation.
Meanwhile, she is enjoying positive feedback on her latest release, Nyame Ye, which continues to gain traction among gospel music lovers.
