Toase Traditional Council Leads Support Drive for Mpasatia D/A Basic ‘A’ School Renovation

The Toase Traditional Council in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality has taken a proactive step to improve education infrastructure by supporting the renovation of the Mpasatia D/A Basic ‘A’ School Block in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

At an open-day celebration held under the theme, “Investing in our Leaders: Building Strong Foundations, Brick by Brick,” the Council presented a ₵4,000 cheque for the purchase of 50 bags of cement, along with an additional ₵2,500 cash donation to aid the renovation project.

The colourful event brought together traditional leaders, educators, community members, and students to rally support for the school, which has not undergone any major renovation since its establishment in 1962.

Nana Amonu Gyamfuaa Serwah Bonsu, the Toase Hemaa, who made the presentation on behalf of the Council, described the initiative as more than a building project — a shared investment in the future of the community’s children.

“This is not just about walls and classrooms; it’s about building lives and nurturing young minds,” she said. “Education is the key that unlocks potential, and every child deserves a solid foundation on which to build their dreams.”

Nana Serwah Bonsu assured the gathering that the Toase Yim Awere Palace and the Traditional Council remained committed to partnering with stakeholders until the completion of the project. She emphasized the need to empower learners with the knowledge, wisdom, and critical thinking skills necessary to become responsible future leaders.

Receiving the donation, Mrs. Evelyn Bridget Prempeh, Headmistress of the school, expressed gratitude to the Traditional Council for their continuous support. She said the open day was not only meant to highlight the school’s achievements but also to showcase the students’ talents and raise awareness about the challenges facing the institution.

Quoting from Matthew 5:14–16, she urged the pupils to let their talents “shine before others” and not hide their potential. Mrs. Prempeh also called on parents, teachers, the District Assembly, old students, and philanthropists to unite behind the cause of improving the school’s learning environment.

She noted that the school, with a population of over 400 learners across both primary and junior high departments, urgently needed renovation to create a safe and inspiring space for academic growth.

The event chairperson, Mr. Richard Afful Osei, a local Cocoa Purchasing Clerk, commended the Traditional Council and school management for their commitment and personally donated ₵500 to support the project.

He encouraged other community members and stakeholders to contribute in any way possible to ensure the successful completion of the renovation, which he described as “an investment in the next generation.”
