More than 1,500 students from secondary and tertiary institutions across Ghana benefitted from the 20th edition of the Success Africa Summit, which focused on digital responsibility, financial literacy, and youth empowerment in an increasingly technology-driven world.
Held under the theme *“Beyond Vision: Dare, Act & Achieve,”* the summit provided a platform for industry leaders to engage with young people on practical strategies to navigate opportunities and challenges in the digital economy.
Representatives from MTN Ghana highlighted the growing risks of mobile money fraud, advising students on safe digital practices. Mr. David Nana Addai, MTN’s Mobile Money Manager for Northern Ghana, explained that most fraud cases stemmed from manipulation rather than technical hacking, with scammers often impersonating relatives or sending deceptive links to obtain sensitive information.
He urged students to safeguard their mobile wallets by protecting PIN codes, verifying suspicious requests, and using only the official MoMo application for transactions. Mr. Addai also noted the expansion of Mobile Money into a comprehensive financial platform offering savings and investment options like Yellow Save.
Mrs. Dzudzorfe Hadzor, MTN’s Coordinator for Data Devices and Home, discussed ways students could manage high data consumption, explaining that smartphone settings and app behaviours—such as automatic downloads of high-definition media—often caused data depletion. She encouraged students to disable automatic downloads, utilize midnight data bundles for large files, and select packages tailored to their academic and social media use.
Success Africa CEO Mr. Albert Prempeh Kusi urged participants to combine digital awareness with disciplined financial habits. He encouraged students to cultivate a savings culture and develop skills that would support long-term economic independence.
The summit also featured interactive discussions and the distribution of branded souvenirs to participants, fostering engagement and reinforcing the practical lessons shared during the programme.
