The Hohoe Tsevi Sub-Division in the Gbi Traditional Area of the Volta Region has enstooled a new Queenmother, marking what leaders described as a new chapter of leadership and community engagement.
Known in private life as Emelia Edem Kugbeadzor, the newly installed Queenmother will now be known traditionally as Mama Akrengbe III.
In her acceptance speech, Mama Akrengbe III described her enstoolment as a great honour and said she would also be known publicly as “Mama Is Dope,” a name she said symbolises strength, cultural pride, influence, and stronger connections with young people and the creative community.
She explained that while her traditional duties remain rooted in the customs and heritage of the area, her leadership style would also embrace modern ideas centred on unity, empowerment, and progress.
Mama Akrengbe III pledged to serve the people with wisdom, dignity, and commitment.
Speaking at the event, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive Prosper Kumi congratulated the new Queenmother and the Hohoe Tsevi Sub-Division, stressing the importance of collaboration between traditional leaders and local authorities in driving development.
He assured residents that the Assembly would continue to support development projects in the area and announced plans to improve some roads within the sub-division.
