UNICEF, Adaklu ,Assembly Train Child Protection Committee to Strengthen Safeguards for Children
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), in partnership with the Volta Regional Department of Community Development and the Adaklu District Assembly, is undertaking efforts to strengthen child protection systems in the district through a specialised capacity-building workshop for members of the Adaklu District Child Protection Committee (ADCPC).
The two-day training programme, scheduled for June 10 and 11 at Adaklu Waya, is aimed at enhancing the knowledge and practical skills of committee members in the use of child protection toolkits to support effective responses to child welfare and safeguarding concerns.
According to an invitation letter signed by the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Sylvester Kodzo Ayittey, the workshop will equip participants with the tools and competencies required to identify, prevent and respond to child protection challenges within their communities.
The training is also expected to provide a platform for participants to exchange experiences, discuss emerging child protection issues and share best practices that can strengthen intervention efforts across the district.
The letter urged all members of the Adaklu District Child Protection Committee to participate fully in the workshop and contribute meaningfully to discussions aimed at improving child welfare outcomes.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts by UNICEF and its partners to strengthen community-based child protection mechanisms and ensure that vulnerable children receive the support and protection they need to thrive.
Stakeholders believe that enhancing the capacity of local child protection actors is critical to addressing issues such as child abuse, neglect, exploitation and other forms of vulnerability affecting children in communities.
The workshop is expected to reinforce collaboration among key institutions responsible for child welfare while improving the district’s ability to respond effectively to child protection concerns.
