Nigerian Afrobeats sensation and Grammy Award-winning artiste Burna Boy has further strengthened his position on the global music stage by becoming the African artiste with the most appearances on the Billboard U.S. Hot 100 chart.
The achievement follows the debut of his latest collaboration, “Dai Dai,” with Colombian superstar Shakira, which entered the chart at number 75 and secured Burna Boy’s ninth appearance on the prestigious ranking.
With the milestone, Burna Boy, born Damini Ogulu, moves ahead of fellow Nigerian singer Tems, who previously shared the record with him at eight Billboard Hot 100 entries.
The chart success of “Dai Dai,” the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, has provided another boost to the singer’s growing international profile. The track attracted global attention after Burna Boy and Shakira performed it during the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico.
The latest accomplishment also marks another historic first for the Afrobeats star. Burna Boy has now become the first African artiste to record at least one Billboard Hot 100 entry in six consecutive years, underscoring his consistency and sustained global appeal.
His Billboard Hot 100 journey includes chart appearances with songs such as “Loved By You” in 2021, “Last Last” in 2022, “Sitting On Top of the World” and “Talibans II” in 2023, “Just Like Me” and “We Pray” in 2024, “WGFT” in 2025, and “Only You” and “Dai Dai” in 2026.
Beyond Billboard success, Burna Boy continues to break new ground on streaming platforms. The singer recently surpassed 40 million monthly listeners on Spotify for the first time in his career, reflecting the growing global reach of African music.
The milestone comes amid another successful year for the artiste, who has also secured multiple nominations ahead of the 2026 Grammy Awards.
With record-breaking chart performances, expanding streaming numbers and continued recognition on the international awards circuit, Burna Boy’s latest achievement highlights the increasing influence of Afrobeats and African music within the global entertainment industry.
