Organisers of ShattaFest UK, a music event headlined by Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, have cancelled the programme following a reported incident outside the event venue that allegedly left some people injured.
In a statement announcing the cancellation, organisers said the decision was taken after careful consideration, with the safety and well-being of patrons, performers and staff remaining their highest priority.
“It is with a very heavy heart that we address the unfortunate events surrounding ShattaFest UK. Our hearts are with everyone who has been affected by this tragic situation,” the organisers said.
The event was expected to attract music fans from various locations for a night of entertainment and performances celebrating Shatta Wale’s career and the wider Shatta Movement community.
However, organisers said reports of the incident outside the venue forced them to bring the programme to an early end.
They expressed disappointment that an occasion intended to celebrate music and create memorable experiences had instead been overshadowed by an unfortunate situation.
“Every performance is built on bringing joy, hope and unforgettable memories to the fans who have supported him throughout the years. To know that what was meant to be a night of celebration has become a moment of pain is truly devastating,” the statement added.
The organisers appealed to the public and the media to avoid speculation while investigations by the relevant authorities continue.
They said verified information should guide public discussions as efforts are made to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The statement also commended emergency responders, security personnel, medical teams and venue staff for their efforts in responding to the situation and supporting those affected.
Organisers thanked fans who travelled to attend the event and asked for patience and understanding during what they described as a difficult period.
They added that Shatta Wale and members of the Shatta Movement family would cooperate fully with authorities and event partners as investigations continue.
