Big Brother Naija Season 11 housemate Nomy has been disqualified from the reality show after a series of warnings and disciplinary actions over her repeated failure to comply with house rules.
Nomy, whose real name is Whitney Nneoma Chukwu, was ordered to leave the ‘Show Ya Sef’ house on Monday after she again breached the conditions of the Benchwarmer punishment imposed on her.
The latest violation followed a Head of House challenge in which Nomy finished last and was subsequently instructed to use a designated bench and wear a specific vest as part of her punishment.
However, she abandoned both the bench and the vest, prompting Big Brother to confront her over her decision.
“Why have you left your bench and vest behind, what’s your intention?” Big Brother asked.
The incident marked the latest in a string of disciplinary concerns involving the 26-year-old fashion designer and entrepreneur.
Earlier in the season, Nomy had been warned over her failure to observe the requirements of the Benchwarmer role, which included wearing the assigned outfit, remaining on the designated bench and performing specified cleaning duties.
On August 9, Big Brother issued her a strike and described it as her “last and final warning” following her continued defiance of instructions.
Although some of the restrictions attached to the punishment were later relaxed after Nomy apologised, she subsequently received further cautions over lateness, disobedience and failure to participate in mandatory house activities.
Her latest breach eventually proved decisive, with Big Brother disqualifying her from the competition and giving her 30 minutes to pack her belongings and leave the house.
The disqualification brings an abrupt end to Nomy’s campaign for the ₦160 million grand prize and makes her the first housemate to leave the season through disciplinary action.
Her exit also comes a day after Gerard Adebija was evicted during the Sunday live show, reducing the number of contestants remaining in the competition to 15.
Nomy, who hails from Anambra State but was raised in Lagos, is a fashion designer and entrepreneur associated with the fashion brand Ambition by Witme. She also has a background in sociology, having studied in Kumasi, Ghana.
During her brief stay in the house, her outspoken personality and repeated disagreements over rules generated considerable discussion among viewers, with reactions divided between those who defended her conduct and others who supported Big Brother’s decision to sanction her.
With Nomy now out of the competition, the remaining housemates will continue their battle for the ₦160 million prize and a place in the season finale.
