Fraud Ring Swindles U.S. Investor of $1.5 Million

In a shocking case of betrayal and fraud, Freny Nyuyen, a prominent American businessman and humanitarian worker originally from Vietnam, has revealed she was scammed out of more than $1.5 million by a network of criminals claiming to assist refugees.

The scheme, which involved multiple individuals posing as refugees, lawyers, priests, and diplomats, has left Nyuyen devastated, with stolen money and valuable humanitarian supplies now unaccounted for.

Nyuyen, who arrived in Ghana four years ago to conduct humanitarian work aimed at providing food, shelter, and medical assistance to refugees, was introduced to Allen David and his sister, Diana David, who claimed they were victims of theft by a criminal group.

Allen, presenting himself as a refugee in need of help, convinced Nyuyen to assist his sister and him financially.

However, Nyuyen’s trust in Allen quickly turned into a nightmare.

In the course of their dealings, Allen and his associates led Nyuyen to believe they were providing crucial humanitarian support and legal services to refugees, but it was all part of an elaborate ruse.

The scam began with a series of requests for money, with Allen introducing Nyuyen to various supposed professionals, including a lawyer named Dr. Collin, who allegedly claimed to be working for the Ghanaian Vice President at the time.

Nyuyen was told that Dr. Collin would assist with filing refugee documents and vetting refugees for their protection during their stay in Ghana.

However, this was just the beginning of a string of fraudulent demands for cash.

Allen also involved a priest named Solomon, who claimed to be selling his house for $500,000 and needed guidance on the transaction.

Solomon allegedly took a total of $24,000 from Nyuyen.

As the scheme escalated, Allen introduced Nyuyen to a woman named Madame Angel Yampy, who purported to be a priest helping refugees. The group continuously demanded more money, and Nyuyen was asked to support Yampy’s temple, further fueling her belief in the authenticity of their operation.

Over time, Nyuyen paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for supposed warehouse fees, special filings, and legal assistance.

Her faith in the group’s intentions grew, but she soon found herself spiraling deeper into a financial abyss.

Nyuyen was convinced by Allen and his associates to pay for storage costs related to Allen’s luggage, which contained valuable items that were purportedly connected to refugees in need.

Nyuyen sent money through various channels, including Western Union, Apple iTunes, and wire transfers to Allen and his accomplices. The funds, however, never went toward the humanitarian efforts Nyuyen had hoped to support.

Instead, they were siphoned off by the syndicate, which was operating under false pretenses.

As the scam reached its peak, Allen’s group of criminals expanded to include diplomats and individuals based in both Ghana and the United States.

One such figure, Mark Bill, allegedly a diplomat, was sent to the U.S. to collect a sum of $45,000 for Allen’s luggage, while other individuals involved in the fraud took additional funds from Nyuyen, including $85,000 and $26,000 from various locations in the U.S. and Ghana.

The most significant blow came when it was revealed that Allen and his associates had stolen not only Nyuyen’s money but also nine pieces of luggage containing 97 kilos of gold and $12 million in cash, funds intended for refugees in need.

Additionally, Nyuyen’s computer, which contained critical information related to her humanitarian work, was also stolen by Allen and his group.

In total, the syndicate of criminals, believed to be operating out of Ghana and Nigeria, managed to steal over $1.5 million in cash and property from Nyuyen, all while hiding behind the façade of providing support to vulnerable refugees.

Nyuyen, who is now working with authorities to track down the criminals involved, expressed deep regret and anger over her ordeal. She is urging others to be wary of similar scams and is calling for justice for the stolen humanitarian goods.

“This has been a painful experience, not only for me but for the refugees who were meant to benefit from the funds and support. I hope this story serves as a warning to others who are trying to do good in the world,” Nyuyen said.

“It is heartbreaking that those I trusted the most were the ones who took advantage of me.”

Authorities in both Ghana and the United States are currently investigating the fraud, with efforts underway to locate and apprehend the individuals involved.

Meanwhile call placed to the contact numbers of these alleged fraudsters did not go through as their mobile numbers were unreachable.
