Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again taken aim at two of America’s most influential musicians, Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen, in a series of blunt social media posts that have sparked fresh debate over his ongoing feuds with high-profile entertainers.
Trump, currently returning from a diplomatic tour in the Middle East, used his Truth Social platform to reignite his long-running quarrel with Swift, a feud that dates back to her public support for his political opponents.
“Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT’?” Trump posted on Friday, without providing further context. This latest jab follows his 2020 outburst when Swift endorsed Joe Biden over Trump in the presidential race, a move that visibly irritated the then-President.
Swift, one of the world’s most successful musicians and a vocal advocate for progressive causes, has largely avoided responding to Trump’s repeated provocations, maintaining her focus on her music and activism.
Trump’s online venting did not stop with Swift. In a separate post, he unleashed a sharp critique of Bruce Springsteen, referring to the rock legend as a “dried out prune” and a “pushy, obnoxious JERK” with “Radical Left Politics.”
The tirade appeared to be a response to a recent comment Springsteen made during a concert in Manchester, where he indirectly criticized Trump’s leadership, calling for his audience to “raise your voices against authoritarianism” and to defend American democracy.
Trump responded with a scathing message: “Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics,” before adding, “This dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just ‘standard fare.’”
As the 2024 presidential race intensifies, Trump’s attacks on cultural figures like Swift and Springsteen highlight his willingness to clash with popular icons who have openly opposed his political vision, further energizing his base while drawing sharp criticism from his detractors.
