Delta Air Lines is set to enhance travel options between Ghana and the United States with the introduction of a new seasonal daily nonstop service between Accra and Atlanta, scheduled to begin December 1, 2025.
The airline’s latest expansion aims to meet the growing demand for travel between the two countries, particularly during the peak holiday season between December and January. Since 2006, Delta has transported over 7.5 million customers across its African routes, reaffirming its strong presence in the region.
With the addition of this new route, Delta will now operate two direct flights to Accra—its year-round daily service from New York-JFK and the upcoming seasonal flights from Atlanta.
Mr. Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India, emphasized the airline’s dedication to enhancing connectivity for Ghanaian travelers.
“We recognize how important it is for families and friends to stay connected, and this new service provides more options for Ghanaians to reach their loved ones while enjoying world-class service. Our Atlanta-Accra route reinforces our commitment to offering more choices, convenience, and a premium travel experience,” he said in a statement.
The new Accra-Atlanta route will be operated using Delta’s Airbus A330-900neo, a next-generation aircraft known for its comfort, modern in-flight entertainment, and enhanced onboard amenities. This aircraft, which has been well received on the New York-Accra route, features:
- Delta One Suites (for premium luxury)
- Delta Premium Select (extra space and enhanced amenities)
- Delta Comfort+ (additional legroom)
- Main Cabin seating (standard economy class)
The positive feedback from Ghanaian travelers on the New York flights played a key role in Delta’s decision to introduce this aircraft on the Atlanta route, ensuring passengers enjoy a more comfortable and seamless travel experience.
Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the world’s busiest airport, serves as a major hub for Delta, offering connections to over 215 destinations worldwide. This new service will allow Ghanaian travelers to easily access major U.S. cities, including Washington, D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, and Houston, making both business and leisure travel more convenient.
Delta is not only expanding its footprint in West Africa but also introducing its first-ever nonstop flight from Atlanta to Marrakech, Morocco, set to launch on October 25, 2025.
Additionally, Delta is investing in passenger experience enhancements at its Atlanta hub, including:
- A new 24,000-square-foot Delta Sky Club on Concourse D, offering panoramic views and premium amenities.
- Upgraded Sky Clubs on Concourses A and C to improve customer comfort.
- Expansion of Concourse D to ease passenger flow and increase gate capacity.
- Introduction of Delta Digital ID, allowing eligible travelers to move through security and baggage drop seamlessly without a physical ID or boarding pass.
- Free Wi-Fi expansion to international routes in West Africa, including Accra, Lagos, and Dakar.
These investments reinforce Delta’s leadership in connecting Ghana to the U.S., providing travelers with enhanced service, comfort, and connectivity.
Since its entry into Africa in 2006, Delta has continually expanded its operations to meet the growing demand for travel between Africa and North America. With this latest expansion, Delta reaffirms its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and seamless travel experiences for passengers flying between Ghana and the United States.
