Azumah Resources Ghana Limited is taking deliberate steps to reinforce stakeholder confidence as it navigates a commercial dispute with Engineers & Planners (E&P), one of Ghana’s largest indigenous engineering firms.
In a statement released on Sunday, the company’s Board of Directors emphasized that ongoing negotiations with E&P are being conducted in a spirit of good faith, confidentiality, and compliance with Ghana’s legal and regulatory frameworks. The company positioned the process as not only constructive but also essential to safeguarding the integrity of its operations and long-term partnerships.
“The aim is to arrive at a resolution that serves the interests of all parties involved, including the Republic of Ghana,” the company stated, reinforcing its alignment with national economic interests.
The announcement appears to be a direct response to growing public interest and media scrutiny, which has intensified following remarks by Ghanaian policy analyst Bright Simons. While Simons has spoken critically about the matter, Azumah Resources has distanced itself from his comments, clarifying that he holds no formal or informal role within the company.
“Mr. Bright Simons does not represent, act on behalf of, or speak for Azumah Resources or its shareholders. His commentary should be treated as personal opinion,” the Board emphasized.
In an apparent effort to stem the tide of speculation, the company also addressed reports involving the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID). Azumah acknowledged that preliminary discussions had taken place in Lomé in 2023 regarding possible financing, but insisted that EBID’s interest was strictly conditional and never materialized into a formal commitment.
“Any interpretation beyond this preliminary engagement is unauthorized and does not reflect the official position of either Azumah Resources or EBID,” the company stated.
With the current impasse drawing significant media attention, Azumah Resources is urging both the public and the press to refrain from disseminating unverified or misleading narratives. The company stressed the importance of relying on official communications to avoid undermining the negotiation process.
Above all, Azumah reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and responsible corporate governance as it works to resolve the matter and protect the interests of its partners, investors, and the Ghanaian public.
