Presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has urged party members and his supporters to uphold discipline and focus on ideas rather than personal attacks as the internal flagbearer contest heats up.
Addressing recent controversies, including a social media video that allegedly linked him to comments blaming Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the Mamprusi-Kusasi conflict, Dr. Acheampong dismissed the claims as fabrications meant to distract from the real issues. His campaign has described the video as “mischievously pieced together and venomously captioned.”
Instead of dwelling on the attacks, the Abetifi MP used the moment to call for restraint and maturity within the party.
“This is not a contest of insults. It is a contest of ideas, leadership, and vision. I respectfully call on all who support me to refrain from intemperate language, personal attacks, and the circulation of false materials,” he said.
Dr. Acheampong stressed that the NPP’s strength lies in unity and cautioned that divisive tactics could weaken the party ahead of the 2028 general election.
“We are building something far greater than a campaign. We are building a movement to unite and rebuild our beloved New Patriotic Party. Let our words heal, not harm. Let our actions inspire, not inflame,” he added.
By redirecting attention away from personal rivalries and toward collective responsibility, Dr. Acheampong positioned his campaign as one that prioritises reconciliation, discipline, and the broader goal of strengthening the NPP brand.
