Former Chief Executive Officer of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Edwin Provencal, has been detained by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) as part of ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities that occurred during his time in office.
Reliable sources told Citi News that Mr. Provencal was apprehended at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Monday, November 10, 2025, while attempting to board a flight to Maputo, Mozambique.
According to the sources, the former BOST CEO had been placed on a stop list by EOCO, preventing him from leaving the country without prior clearance. Despite the restriction, he reportedly arrived at the airport intending to travel, prompting his swift arrest by security officials.
EOCO sources indicated that Mr. Provencal’s detention forms part of a broader probe into financial and operational activities under his administration, though the details of the investigation remain undisclosed.
Officials familiar with the matter say Mr. Provencal is expected to assist investigators with critical information related to certain transactions executed during his tenure at the state-owned petroleum storage and distribution company.
As of Tuesday morning, EOCO had not issued an official statement on the arrest.
Mr. Provencal, who served as BOST CEO from 2019 until early 2025, has yet to comment publicly on the development.
