The Catholic University of Ghana (CUG) has officially inaugurated a new 800-seater multi-purpose pavilion, marking a significant step in enhancing the institution’s physical infrastructure and student experience.
The facility, constructed at a cost of GH¢11.2 million, features CCTV surveillance, internet connectivity, 24 offices, car parking, walkways, and a mechanized water system, reflecting the university’s commitment to modern, functional spaces that meet academic and social needs.
At the inauguration ceremony held on the Fiapre campus in the Sunyani West Municipality, Most Reverend Joseph Afrifah-Agyekum, Council Chairman of CUG, encouraged students, lecturers, and university authorities to maintain the facility responsibly. He also urged the campus community to remain God-fearing and uphold the university’s Christian ethos, emphasizing that all activities should align with its mission of evangelization.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Matthew Glover Addo, and former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Daniels Obeng-Ofori, joined other university leaders in attending the event. The pavilion was constructed by Messrs Beksfel Construction Limited.
The addition of this modern facility is expected to enhance learning, provide a venue for academic and social events, and contribute to the overall growth of the university, positioning CUG as a leading institution that prioritizes both educational excellence and student welfare.
