The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a weather advisory for commuters and residents, forecasting localised thunderstorms and rainfall later today in parts of Accra, Kasoa, and the Ashanti Region.
According to GMet’s 24-hour forecast released Thursday morning, areas likely to experience rain and thunderstorms include Accra, Kasoa, Kumasi, Obuasi, Tarkwa, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Axim, and Sefwi Bekwai. The agency also noted that mist and fog formed over coastal, forested, and hilly regions in the early hours, reducing visibility for drivers and travelers.
Residents can expect sunny skies in the mid-morning, but these will give way to unstable weather conditions in the afternoon. Thunderstorms or rain may affect parts of the coastal belt as well as the middle and transition zones, continuing into the evening. Northern Ghana is forecast to remain mostly dry, though slightly hazy.
GMet also highlighted that nighttime and early morning temperatures will be relatively cool in the upper regions, while rough sea conditions are expected along the coast. Commuters and motorists are therefore advised to exercise caution, particularly in areas where visibility may be limited and roads may become slippery during afternoon showers.
