The prolonged chieftaincy dispute in Moree, a town in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District of the Central Region, has become a major concern, with residents lamenting its negative impact on the community’s growth and stability. The Akona Royal Family, a key faction in the dispute, is calling for urgent intervention from traditional and governmental authorities to resolve the matter.
At a press conference in Moree, Ebusuapanyin Nana Kofi Adanse made a passionate appeal to the Central Regional House of Chiefs, the National House of Chiefs, the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, and the National Peace Council to mediate and bring lasting peace to the area. He emphasized that the lack of unity has hindered development, preventing the town from attracting investment and opportunities.
Beyond traditional leaders, Nana Adanse also called for the involvement of Omanhen of Asebu Traditional Area, Okatakyi Amenfi VII, and Central Region Council of State Member, Mr. Hakim Addei, urging them to play a role in restoring harmony.
Residents of Moree have expressed deep concerns over the dispute’s effects on their daily lives, stating that the absence of strong leadership has stalled progress, affecting infrastructure, business, and social development.
The Akona Royal Family remains optimistic that with immediate and decisive action from relevant authorities, peace will be restored, paving the way for Moree to regain its status as a thriving and prosperous town.
