The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has inducted Reverend Stephen Martinson as the new District Minister for Aboso, with church leaders urging unity, humility and cooperation as key pillars for advancing the church’s mission.
The induction service took place at the Victory Congregation in Aboso, within the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality, and was officiated by the Chairperson of the Western Presbytery, Rev. Dr. Joseph Apea Asamoah. The ceremony drew a large gathering of clergy, traditional authorities, family members and well-wishers.
In a sermon themed “Called into Light and United for God’s Mission,” Rev. Dr. Asamoah stressed that unity among church leadership and members was indispensable to the success and growth of the church. He cautioned that division within the church weakens its ability to carry out its spiritual mandate.
“Whenever the church is united, the Spirit of the Lord is with them, guiding their mission. But when they are divided, the Spirit of God will not work among them, and achieving the church’s mission becomes difficult,” he said.
He encouraged church leaders to exercise patience and understanding in dealing with members, noting that people willingly choose to be part of the church and must therefore be nurtured with care. Members were also urged to submit to leadership and work collaboratively to realise the church’s vision.
Rev. Dr. Asamoah further admonished Rev. Martinson to lead with humility and faithfulness in his new role.
Rev. Martinson, a retired Regional Manager of Presbyterian Schools in the Western and Western North Regions, expressed appreciation to the leadership of the PCG for the trust placed in him. He appealed to the congregation for prayers, cooperation and support as he begins his ministry in the Aboso District.
He said his priority would be to work with church members and leaders to strengthen unity and promote initiatives that would enhance the image and mission of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in the district.
