Musician Mzbel has addressed her recent exchange with Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Abeiku Santana, clarifying that her reaction was motivated by a need to defend her reputation, not personal animosity.
In an interview on Mothers FM, Mzbel said she holds no personal grudge against Abeiku but felt compelled to respond to comments she found disrespectful.
“I don’t have any problem with Abeiku Santana. He said something I didn’t like, and I responded accordingly,” she explained.
Mzbel emphasized that her reaction was not prompted by a single remark but by a pattern of comments that, in her view, had previously undermined her image.
“Before he called me a former musician, he had already made other statements about me that affected my reputation. I had heard some of these before but chose not to react because I hadn’t heard them directly from him,” she said.
The musician further noted that her stance reflects a principle of careful association and self-protection, especially when public perception and professional branding are involved.
“If someone shows their true colours against your brand, there is no need to have anything to do with them,” Mzbel added, highlighting that her recent response was a personal decision to assert respect and protect her public image.
