John Mensah Da-Silveira, Headmaster of Dodi-Papase Senior High Technical School (DOPASS), has appealed to philanthropists, organisations, and government stakeholders to help address the school’s infrastructure deficit, particularly the shortage of classrooms and dormitories.
Speaking during the grand durbar of the school’s SRC Week celebration at Dodi-Papase in the Kadjebi District, Mr Da-Silveira highlighted how inadequate facilities have limited student enrollment since the school’s establishment in 1983. He noted that prospective students often compare DOPASS’s facilities with neighbouring institutions such as Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School (KASEC) and Buemman Senior High School (BUSEC) before making admission choices.
“The lack of classrooms and boarding facilities has affected teaching and learning and contributed to low enrolment figures,” he said, adding that a stalled GETFund project, initiated in 2015 and being executed by DEFIAT Development Company Limited, has worsened the situation.
“When completed, this project will ease classroom challenges and create a more conducive environment for staff and students,” he explained, urging benevolent individuals to assist in constructing additional blocks and dormitories.
The headmaster also encouraged students to remain disciplined and focused, warning against laziness and behaviours that compromise values. “A lazy hunter cannot stalk animals,” he advised, emphasizing that dedication to studies is key to success.
In solidarity, Seth Seyram Deh, Kadjebi District Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), praised the school for organising a successful SRC Week and urged students to avoid social vices to excel academically.
Dr Sam Issaka Suraj, Kadjebi District Chief Executive, assured that the District Assembly, together with Yao Gomado, MP for Akan, and Mr Divine Degblah, an aide to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would support efforts to resolve classroom and dormitory challenges.
SRC representatives from KASEC, Ahamansu Islamic Senior High School (AHISEC), and Ntruboman Senior High School sent messages of solidarity, praising DOPASS for promoting unity and academic excellence.
The week-long celebration, marked by cultural displays and speeches, underscored the critical role of collective action from stakeholders in improving educational infrastructure in the Kadjebi District.
