In a moment of recognition that captured years of grassroots dedication and quiet transformation, Mrs. Kate Amoakoaa, widely known as Mama Nyamedea, has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement in Women and Men Empowerment Award at the 2026 Global Peace Ambassadors Awards and NGO Conference.
The prestigious honour was presented on Friday, February 14, 2026, celebrating a lifetime of service defined by compassion, leadership and an unwavering commitment to uplifting vulnerable individuals and families across communities.
The citation accompanying the award highlighted Mama Nyamedea’s visionary leadership and her pioneering role in establishing associations that have empowered countless women and men, strengthened families, and nurtured a culture of unity and service.
For decades, her work has focused on providing hope and opportunity to individuals who often remain unseen within society’s margins. Through mentorship, advocacy, and community driven initiatives, she has cultivated platforms that encourage personal growth, social responsibility and resilience.
“Peace in our homes leads to peace in our nation.”
This philosophy central to her mission has become a guiding principle for many grassroots empowerment groups and community leaders across the country.
Presenting the award, Gladys Biney, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Global Peace Ambassadors Awards, praised Mama Nyamedea’s enduring influence and selfless service.
“Mama Nyamedea’s life work demonstrates that true leadership is measured not by titles, but by the lives transformed.”
The ceremony formed part of the organisation’s annual conference, which convened civil society actors, development advocates, and community leaders to exchange ideas and promote peace building and sustainable empowerment initiatives worldwide.
Organisers emphasised that her impact transcends traditional empowerment frameworks, blending humanitarian service with family development and community cohesion.
Unlike many initiatives that focus on a single demographic, Mama Nyamedea’s work has consistently championed both women and men empowerment, recognising that inclusive development strengthens entire communities.
Her programmes have:
° Created opportunities for economic and personal advancement.
° Encouraged mentorship and leadership development.
° Fostered family stability and social harmony.
° Inspired volunteerism and civic responsibility.
“Empower one person, and you strengthen a family; empower families, and you transform a nation.”
In her acceptance remarks, Mrs. Amoakoaa expressed deep gratitude to the organisers and reaffirmed her commitment to serving humanity and promoting peace at the grassroots level.
“This honour is not mine alone it belongs to every life touched, every family strengthened, and every community that believes in hope.”
She pledged to continue expanding her initiatives and mentoring the next generation of community leaders dedicated to building a more compassionate and peaceful society.
Mama Nyamedea’s recognition at the 2026 Global Peace Ambassadors Awards stands as a powerful testament to the impact of sustained grassroots leadership. Her story reinforces the enduring truth that meaningful change often begins quietly within families, neighbourhoods and communities and grows into national inspiration.
As applause filled the conference hall, one message resonated clearly: her work has not only transformed lives but has also strengthened the foundations of peace and unity.
