The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for additional suspects following the alleged lynching of a 26-year-old Liberian national, Austin Tengeeh, in the Sakumono area.
Three individuals — Francis Amuzu, 44, William Adison, 36, and Vincent Adzikah, 34 — have been arrested by the Sakumono District Police Command and are currently in custody assisting with investigations.
According to a police situational report, preliminary findings suggest that the victim was allegedly mistaken for a thief by a group of irate persons who attacked him near the ECG area at Lashibi on February 27, 2026.
Police said the District Patrol Team responded swiftly after receiving a distress call from an unidentified informant reporting that a man had been severely beaten by a mob. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the victim unconscious with visible assault marks around his neck and head. He was rushed to the Sakumono Community Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body has since been deposited at the hospital’s morgue, while the necessary diplomatic protocols are being observed due to the victim’s nationality.
Meanwhile, the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team from the National Police Headquarters has joined efforts to track down other individuals believed to have conspired in the attack.
Police have reiterated their warning against mob justice and urged the public to report suspected criminal activity to law enforcement agencies rather than taking the law into their own hands.
