The Government of Ghana has begun preparations for a possible evacuation of its nationals living in Qatar as security concerns continue to rise across parts of the Middle East.
In a notice issued on March 15, 2026, the Embassy of Ghana in Doha called on Ghanaians who may wish to return home under the arrangement to reconfirm their interest by submitting the biodata pages of their passports via email.
The embassy explained that the move forms part of precautionary contingency plans being implemented in response to the evolving security situation in the region. The exercise, if carried out, will involve transportation from Qatar to Ghana only.
Officials indicated that the initiative follows an earlier communication sent on March 6, 2026, which alerted Ghanaian residents in Qatar to monitor developments closely as tensions in parts of the Middle East continue to attract international attention.
Ghanaians interested in participating in the evacuation process have been asked to send the required passport information to [email protected] no later than Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
According to the embassy, the request for biodata details will help authorities determine the number of citizens who may require assistance should the evacuation be activated.
The announcement comes as governments around the world review emergency response measures for their citizens living abroad amid growing uncertainty surrounding the regional security environment.
