Sharks Quiz Organisers Defend Re-Run Decision Amid Mounting Pressure from KETASCO Stakeholders

The organisers of the Sharks Quiz have stood firmly by their decision to re-run the disputed quarterfinal contest between Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO) and St. Augustine’s College (AUGUSCO), despite growing opposition from the school’s management and its Past Students’ Association.

The controversy stems from the abrupt end of the quarterfinal held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, which concluded under tense circumstances following a tie and subsequent disagreement over the final tie-breaker response.

In a formal response to petitions submitted by KETASCO stakeholders, the Sharks Quiz Academic Board maintained that a re-run is the most appropriate course of action, citing provisions within the competition’s rules that govern tie situations and disputed outcomes.

According to the organisers, the decision was reached after careful review and in line with established procedures designed to ensure fairness to both competing schools. They emphasized that the re-run would provide a clear and uncontested determination of the winner.

However, this stance has been met with strong resistance from KETASCO’s Past Students’ Association, which insists that the original result should stand. The group argues that the school had already secured victory by providing the correct answer at the निर्णing tie-breaker stage—an outcome they say was even acknowledged by the quiz jury and Academic Board during internal review.

KETASCO stakeholders contend that ordering a re-run undermines the integrity of the competition and disregards a valid academic performance. They have called for the immediate cancellation of the re-run and a formal declaration of KETASCO as winners.

Despite these objections, the organisers have reiterated their commitment to upholding the competition’s regulations, stressing that the re-run is intended to eliminate any ambiguity and preserve confidence in the quiz’s adjudication process.

The situation has sparked wider debate about fairness and consistency in academic competitions, with many observers closely watching how the dispute will ultimately be resolved.

As tensions remain high, all eyes are now on the Sharks Quiz Academic Board for a final decision that could either reinforce its authority or further deepen the controversy surrounding the contest.
