The Ghana Police Service has arrested Beatrice Mumuni, a female suspect in connection with the killing of 57-year-old George Atuguba and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atuguba, while intensifying efforts to locate another suspect, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto.
The police have declared Osei Anto wanted and announced a GH¢100,000 reward for credible information that could lead to his arrest.
According to a police statement, preliminary investigations suggest that Mumuni allegedly led Osei Anto to the residence of the deceased at Sakumono in the Greater Accra Region before the fatal incident.
The two victims were reportedly shot dead on Friday, October 30, 2026, following an alleged confrontation over a financial dispute.
Preliminary police findings indicate that the incident may have been triggered by an alleged debt of GH¢500,000 owed by George Atuguba.
Investigators say Osei Anto reportedly visited the victims’ residence with Mumuni to demand repayment of the money, but a misunderstanding allegedly ensued, resulting in the shooting of the two relatives.
Although Mumuni is now in police custody, Osei Anto remains at large as security personnel pursue efforts to establish his whereabouts.
The police have appealed to members of the public with credible information about the wanted suspect to report to the nearest police station.
Information can also be provided through the police emergency numbers 191 or 18555.
The GH¢100,000 reward is being offered to encourage public assistance in securing the arrest of Osei Anto.
Meanwhile, investigations are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killings, including the respective roles of the suspects in the incident.
