A renewed push to equip children with practical safety skills is underway as Candance Academy rolls out the third phase of its nationwide “Safety for All” campaign.
The latest phase marks a significant expansion of the initiative, moving beyond basic awareness to a more comprehensive approach that integrates digital safety, emotional wellbeing, and peer-led advocacy in schools.
Speaking at the launch in Accra, Executive Director Hannah Humphrey emphasised that the programme is designed to empower children with the knowledge and confidence to recognise danger and respond appropriately.
Building on the success of earlier phases that reached thousands of pupils, Season 3 introduces a Child Personal Safety Education Module, digital literacy sessions, and a School Safety Ambassadors Programme aimed at encouraging students to take leadership roles in promoting safety within their schools.
The initiative has gained traction among educators and parents, who have reported noticeable improvements in children’s awareness and behaviour after participating in previous training sessions.
As part of the expansion, the Academy also launched a new book, “Taekwondo for Us,” which promotes discipline, confidence, and self-defence skills among young learners.
Yaw Ampofo Ankrah commended the initiative and encouraged schools and parents to adopt the resource as a tool for building children’s confidence and personal safety awareness.
Candance Academy is calling for stronger collaboration with government agencies, NGOs, and corporate bodies to scale up the programme nationwide, with the long-term goal of embedding safety education into school systems across Ghana.
Organisers say the initiative reflects a broader vision of ensuring that children are not only protected, but empowered with the skills to stay safe in an increasingly complex world.
