The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dismissed Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, marking a major turning point for the national team as it prepares for upcoming international competitions.
The decision follows a string of underwhelming performances, including defeats in recent friendly matches against Austria and Germany, which raised concerns about the team’s readiness ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
In a brief statement, the GFA expressed gratitude for Addo’s service, acknowledging his contributions during his tenure, particularly his role in leading the team through the 2022 World Cup.
Despite those achievements, the Association appears to have opted for a new direction as it seeks to restore confidence and improve results.
Addo’s departure comes at a crucial time, with Ghana set to compete in a challenging World Cup group alongside England, Panama, and Croatia. The move signals urgency within the football governing body to strengthen the team’s technical setup and overall performance.
The GFA has indicated that plans for a new head coach and technical restructuring will be announced in due course, as efforts intensify to reposition the Black Stars for success on the global stage.
