Health authorities have intensified HIV prevention efforts in Kwahu Obomeng following a surge in condom demand during the annual Kwahu Easter celebrations.
The influx of revellers to the Kwahu area has led to a temporary strain on condom supplies, prompting health teams to scale up intervention measures to reduce the risk of infections during the festivities.
Medical officers have increased public education campaigns, encouraging individuals to prioritize safe practices and plan ahead by carrying condoms as part of their personal essentials. This approach, they say, is particularly important for those who may feel uncomfortable purchasing them in public spaces.
To support prevention efforts, health teams stationed across Obomeng are distributing free condoms and providing voluntary HIV testing services, ensuring that festival-goers have access to both protection and information.
Officials stress that periods of heightened social activity, such as Easter celebrations, require increased awareness to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections.
Authorities are therefore urging the public to take responsibility for their health by making use of the available services and adopting safe behaviors, with the goal of ensuring that the celebrations remain both enjoyable and safe for all.
