President John Dramani Mahama has lauded Mr. Adam Mutawakilu for his contributions to expanding access to safe water nationwide. Speaking at the 50th Anniversary of the Gonjaland Youth Association, the President emphasised that safe water is a fundamental right and underscored the importance of continued investment in the sector.
President Mahama also announced progress on the Damango Water Supply System, a project funded by the European Union, which will draw raw water from the White Volta at Yapei, treat it, and supply potable water to around 8,000 residents in Damango and surrounding communities. The Minister of Finance has signed the project commitment letter, signalling the official commencement of work.
The President’s remarks reflect the government’s broader agenda to strengthen water infrastructure, improve service delivery, and ensure equitable access to clean water across underserved regions of Ghana.
