The Ghana Scholarships Authority has begun accepting applications for its Local Tertiary Scholarship Scheme for the 2026/2027 academic year, targeting financially challenged but high-performing students admitted into accredited institutions across the country.
The Authority said the initiative is designed to widen access to higher education by providing financial support to deserving Ghanaian students who meet academic requirements but face economic barriers.
In a statement signed by its Director-General, Alex Kwaku Asafo-Agyei, and issued on Monday, April 20, the Authority announced that applications opened on April 20, 2026, and will close on May 20, 2026. It warned that no late applications will be considered.
Applicants are required to submit their forms online via the official portal, www.apply.scholarships.gov.gh
, and upload all necessary supporting documents as part of the application process.
The Authority explained that after the application window closes, shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in an aptitude test and subsequent interview as part of the selection process.
It urged applicants to ensure that all information provided is accurate and complete, noting that errors or false declarations could lead to automatic disqualification.
