President John Mahama has visited Adum in Kumasi to console traders affected by the devastating fire that ravaged shops at the Blue Light area in the city’s Central Business District.
Accompanied by Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the President met with victims, expressing sympathy over their losses and pledging government support to help them recover.
He instructed the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to swiftly provide relief items to traders who lost their goods and properties in the inferno.
The fire, which broke out earlier in the day, destroyed millions of Ghana Cedis worth of merchandise, leaving many shop owners in despair. Although the cause of the blaze is still under investigation, its impact on businesses has been severe.
President Mahama’s visit reassured victims of the government’s commitment to helping them rebuild their livelihoods.
