The Member of Parliament for Atta Issah has argued that ordinary Ghanaians are already benefiting from declining inflation, even without direct financial support from government.
Speaking on TV3’s Hot Issues programme, the MP said improvements in key economic indicators are gradually easing pressure on household spending and improving living conditions.
He explained that lower inflation does not necessarily mean people receive more money, but rather that prices increase at a slower pace, allowing incomes to stretch further.
“Government hasn’t given you money, but your purchasing power has enhanced,” he stated.
Using everyday examples such as mobile phones and rice, he noted that slower price increases help households manage their budgets better than in previous years.
According to him, this means the same amount of income can now purchase more goods and services compared to periods of high inflation.
However, he acknowledged concerns about rising fuel and energy costs, which continue to affect household expenditure.
Despite these challenges, he maintained that the broader decline in inflation remains a positive development for the economy and should not be overlooked.
