Consumers and business operators in Tema are calling for urgent improvements in mobile network services, citing persistent connectivity challenges that are disrupting communication, business transactions and access to digital services.
Residents say frequent dropped calls, slow internet speeds and unstable network connections have become a growing concern, affecting both personal and commercial activities.
Businesswoman Bernice Ofori said unreliable network services were creating difficulties for enterprises that rely heavily on digital platforms for customer engagement and financial transactions. She noted that poor connectivity and concerns over data consumption were reducing productivity and increasing operational costs.
Information Technology specialist Benson Mawusi stressed that dependable telecommunications infrastructure was vital to Ghana’s digital transformation agenda. He observed that weak signal reception and slow internet speeds were undermining the efficiency of businesses and institutions.
He called on the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, as well as telecommunications companies, to intensify efforts to improve service delivery and network reliability.
Mobile money operator Agyeman Owusu also highlighted the impact of network disruptions on financial transactions, explaining that unstable connectivity often delays transfers and inconveniences customers.
According to him, recurring service interruptions not only affect business operations but can also result in lost revenue opportunities for vendors.
Meanwhile, resident Rockson Oko revealed that many consumers have resorted to carrying multiple SIM cards from different network providers to minimise the effects of network outages. However, he noted that the practice increases communication expenses for users.
The residents are urging telecommunications operators to address the challenges and enhance service quality to support businesses, improve customer satisfaction and strengthen the country’s growing digital economy.
