MTN Ghana has unveiled a major healthcare intervention under its 2026 21 Days of Y’ello Care campaign, committing to provide 1,000 hospital beds to health facilities across the country to help tackle the persistent shortage of beds in hospitals.
The initiative forms part of the telecommunications company’s annual employee volunteer programme, which this year focuses on improving healthcare access and supporting efforts to strengthen Ghana’s health system.
Launching the campaign, MTN Ghana’s Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, Adwoa Wiafe, said the project is intended to address challenges faced by healthcare facilities, particularly the “no-bed syndrome” that continues to affect patient care in many parts of the country.
She explained that the provision of additional hospital beds would help ease pressure on health institutions, improve patient accommodation, and contribute to better healthcare delivery outcomes.
The 21 Days of Y’ello Care programme mobilises MTN employees to volunteer their time and expertise in community development initiatives, with this year’s campaign placing special emphasis on health sector support.
The company believes the intervention will complement national efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and ensure that more patients receive timely and quality care.
Through the initiative, hundreds of MTN staff are expected to participate in activities aimed at making a positive impact on communities while advancing the company’s commitment to social responsibility and sustainable development.
The donation of the hospital beds is expected to benefit health facilities nationwide and provide much-needed relief to hospitals struggling with capacity constraints.
