The Management of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) paid a total of GH¢400,000 to online news platform MyNewsGH.com for publicity services without obtaining the required approval to use the single-source procurement method, the Auditor-General has revealed.
According to the 2025 audit report on the NLA, the Authority entered into a contract with MyNewsGH.com on September 1, 2025, for the provision of publicity services, including the publication of NLA-related stories, advertisements, campaigns, and interviews on lottery products and draws.
The report stated that the contract required the NLA to pay a monthly fee of GH¢40,000, inclusive of taxes.
However, the audit disclosed that Management paid MyNewsGH.com GH¢400,000 between March and December 2025 under the arrangement without first securing approval from the Board of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) to adopt the single-source procurement method.
The Auditor-General said the action contravened procurement procedures, recommending that sanctions under Section 92 of the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663), as amended, be applied to the officers responsible.
“Management paid a total amount of GH¢400,000 to MyNewsGH.com from March 2025 to December 2025 in respect of the above contract without obtaining approval from the Board of the Public Procurement Authority to use the single-source procurement method,” the report stated.
The audit recommendation forms part of broader measures by the Auditor-General to ensure compliance with public procurement regulations and promote accountability in the use of state funds.
The report did not indicate whether the recommended sanctions had been applied or whether further investigations had been initiated into the payment arrangement.
