Razak Jojo Opoku has criticised media outlet ‘False Estate’ over what he describes as a shift in its position on the National Lottery Authority (NLA) and KGL Technology Limited deal, following its reported advocacy for immediate abrogation of the agreement in 2025.
In a Facebook post, Mr Opoku questioned why the outlet, which he claims strongly advocated for the immediate abrogation of the NLA-KGL deal last year, is now drawing attention to the October 31, 2026 deadline set by the Minister of Finance for the final renegotiation of the agreement.
“From Chief Advocates of IMMEDIATE ABROGATION to Chief Advocates of RENEGOTIATION?” he queried, suggesting that the outlet’s current coverage represents a departure from its earlier position.
Mr Opoku also argued that renegotiation had been an integral part of the relationship between the NLA and KGL since 2019.
According to him, the ongoing renegotiation process should therefore not be presented as an entirely new development in the dealings between the two entities.
He further accused some journalists, particularly those associated with ‘False Estate’, of overstating their influence and relevance in public discussions.
“In this country, some journalists especially at FALSE ESTATE have really over-rated themselves in terms of relevance on every issue,” he said, adding that he believed some had developed inflated egos.
His comments come amid public attention on the NLA-KGL agreement and the October 31 deadline for the final renegotiation, as announced by the Finance Minister.
The key issue raised by Mr Opoku is whether the outlet’s current focus on renegotiation is consistent with its reported demand for immediate abrogation in 2025.
However, the claims about the outlet’s previous position and the history of renegotiations would require verification against its earlier publications and the relevant agreement documents. The outlet’s response, if any, was not included in the statement.
