Adamus Resources Limited has announced plans to challenge the government’s decision to revoke its mining leases, arguing that the process was unlawful and failed to comply with Ghana’s mining laws.
The company said it would take legal action after the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, upheld the revocation of its mining leases following a review of the company’s appeal.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, Adamus rejected the Minister’s decision and accused the government of violating the procedures set out in the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703).
“The effort by the Minister to strip Adamus Resources Limited of its mineral rights was without regard to any of the statutory procedures laid down in the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703),” the company stated.
The dispute escalated after the Minister announced that a Ministerial Review Committee had affirmed most of the regulatory breaches identified in an earlier assessment of the company’s operations.
Following that determination, the Minister directed the Minerals Commission to take immediate administrative control of the Adamus mine at Salman in the Ellembelle District.
However, Adamus has strongly denied the allegations against it, describing them as “unfounded, contrived and deliberately manufactured.”
The company further accused the Minister of abusing his authority and disregarding the law in the process that led to the revocation of its leases.
“The company has duly noted the abuse of power wrapped in the absolute disregard of law in the process leading to the contemptible revocation of its leases,” the statement added.
Adamus said it would soon announce the specific legal steps it intends to take to challenge the revocation and defend its mineral rights.
The legal challenge is expected to intensify the dispute between the mining company and the government over the future of the affected concessions and the authority of the Minister and the Minerals Commission in enforcing mining regulations.
