Asante Kotoko SC has embarked on a new phase of its technical development by appointing Abdul Karim Zito as Interim Head Coach and Technical Director, marking a significant shift in the club’s strategy for sustained success.
Zito, a former player and coach of the Porcupine Warriors, returns to the club with an impressive record, including guiding Dreams FC to a historic CAF Confederation Cup semi-final and leading Ghana’s U-20 team to victory in the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
His appointment as both Head Coach and Technical Director is seen as a step toward providing stability and direction during the club’s search for a permanent coach. Zito’s dual role will ensure that technical decisions align with the club’s long-term vision.
Joining Zito in the revamped coaching setup is Prince Yaw Owusu, appointed as Assistant Coach. Owusu brings over 20 years of coaching experience, with previous roles at Medeama SC, Inter Allies, and the Ghana U-20 and U-17 teams. He is also credited with nurturing young talents who have gone on to play for top European clubs.
In addition, the club has appointed former Technical Director Malik Jabir as Technical Advisor, tasked with providing high-level strategic guidance.
These appointments reflect Asante Kotoko’s commitment to building a robust and forward-thinking technical team capable of achieving consistent success on the field.
