Beverly Afaglo, the celebrated Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur, has died after a two-year battle with cancer.
The actress passed away on Saturday night at the International Maritime Hospital, according to her manager, Abu Iddris.
Speaking in an interview on Sunday, Mr Iddris revealed that Beverly had been privately battling the illness while continuing to work and care for her family.
“She really fought hard,” he said, explaining that the disease began as breast cancer before spreading due to its genetic nature.
Her death was announced by her husband, musician Choirmaster, formerly known as Praye Ho Ne Ho, in a social media post on Sunday. She was 42.
According to her manager, Beverly remained active in her career despite her worsening condition, participating in movie promotions, premieres and other projects while undergoing treatment.
“In fact, we shot things for her while she was undergoing treatment,” he disclosed.
Mr Iddris also revealed that the actress travelled to the United States for medical treatment and was advised to stay because of the advanced healthcare available there. However, he said Beverly made the difficult decision to return to Ghana to spend time with her children during her final days.
“She chose to come see her kids and spend the last days with them,” he said.
The family is yet to announce funeral arrangements as tributes continue to pour in for the late actress, who was admired for her resilience, talent and dedication to her family and profession.
