Ghanaian musician Bisa Kdei has cautioned that the current government could face challenges similar to the 2024 elections if the public’s perception of achievements fades over time.
Speaking on Accra-based Joy Prime, Kdei reflected on why the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost the 2024 polls, attributing it not to poor governance but to Ghanaians forgetting early accomplishments and focusing on challenges later in the administration.
He stressed that the current president must manage expectations carefully, noting that initial successes, such as the cedi’s stability against the dollar, could be overshadowed if later difficulties dominate public perception.
“In Ghana, people easily forget. Things might be good now, but if it gets bad during the latter part of the administration, Ghanaians will forget all that you did for them. That is what happened to the previous administration and forced people to call for change,” Kdei said.
His remarks highlight the critical role of public memory in electoral outcomes, suggesting that governments need sustained performance and effective communication throughout their tenure to maintain voter confidence.
