Ghanaian music star Black Sherif has revealed that his fashion choices are closely connected to his emotions and play a significant role in shaping his stage performance and artistic expression.
Speaking in an interview with TV3’s Anita Akuffo, monitored by MyNewsGh, the award-winning artiste explained that what he wears is never random, but rather influenced by his mood at any given moment.
“What I wear depends on how I feel,” he said, adding that even carefully planned outfits can change depending on his emotional state when he wakes up.
He noted that his style decisions are instinctive and reflective of his identity, saying, “If I see Blacko wearing this, it means that’s what I’m feeling,” referring to his stage persona.
Black Sherif further disclosed that his outfit choices directly influence his performance energy, suggesting that confidence in his appearance translates into better stage delivery.
“When the fit is nice, the performance is already successful before I even step on stage,” he said.
Reflecting on his background, the “Second Sermon” hitmaker pointed to his early exposure to second-hand clothing trade as part of what shaped his appreciation for fashion and expression.
“We used to sell second-hand clothes… shoes, tops, all of that. Maybe that’s part of it,” he recalled.
He also spoke about his “Iron Boy” project, describing it as a symbol of personal growth and resilience, especially after overcoming challenges.
“It felt right. It represents becoming stronger after everything,” he said, adding that his life experiences continuously feed into his music.
“Everything I take in goes into my music,” he stated.
On his career discipline following major award success, Black Sherif emphasised consistency and hard work, noting that achievements do not slow his drive.
“We won on Sunday dawn and went back to work on Monday. We are still working,” he said.
He also confirmed that new music and visuals are on the way, assuring fans that his creative momentum remains strong.
