The 26th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) was not just about celebrating musical talent, but also a showcase of daring fashion statements that lit up the red carpet.
This year’s pre-show, in partnership with GTP, took a bold step by moving the red carpet away from the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre, creating a more expansive stage for style and glamour.
Regal Reminders and Futuristic Flair
Hiplife legend Okyeame Kwame made a commanding entrance, channeling the spirit of African royalty with his Pharaoh-inspired regalia, complete with a majestic crown that turned heads and dominated camera lenses. The artist, known for his creative approach to fashion, explained his choice in a red carpet interview, saying, “With this outfit, I am trying to remind young Africans that we come from royalty and civilization, and that is what this look represents.”
Adding a dash of mystery to the evening, Medikal opted for a dark, masked ensemble, a choice that left many guessing about the statement behind the full face covering, while maintaining his signature edgy style.
Glamour and Glow
Actress Fella Makafui embraced pure elegance with a sleek, shimmering, body-hugging gown that showcased her curves, pairing it with glittery makeup that caught every flash of the camera. Her radiant look added a touch of classic Hollywood to the night’s eclectic mix.
Piesie Esther, known for her powerful stage presence, took to the carpet in a long, black, strapped gown that shimmered under the spotlights, perfectly capturing the spirit of the night’s celebrations.
Bold Colors and Fresh Styles
Beeztrap KOTM, the newly crowned New Artiste of the Year, brought an explosion of color to the red carpet, standing tall in a striking pink suit that reflected his bold approach to both music and fashion.
Reigning Highlife Artiste of the Year, Fameye, balanced classic and trendy with a smart suit jacket, red loafers, and striped trousers, showing a refined yet youthful take on the evening’s fashion parade.
Fashion Icons and Risk Takers
The red carpet also saw appearances from style icons like Osebo the Zaraman, known for his unconventional fashion sense, and Kofi Kinaata, who brought his usual cool, laid-back vibe to the event. Empress Gifty, Elikem, and Mr Drew were among the other stars who rounded out a night filled with fashion risks and unforgettable style moments.
From royal inspirations to futuristic masks and glittering gowns, the TGMA red carpet once again proved that Ghana’s entertainment industry is as much about visual storytelling as it is about music.
