The Chief of Fiapre in the Sunyani West Municipality, Obrempong Professor Kyem Amponsah II, has commissioned a six-unit classroom block for the Kyem Amponsah Senior High School (KASHS), in a major effort to improve educational infrastructure in the area.
The facility, valued at about GH¢600,000, was fully funded by the chief as part of his commitment to supporting the growth of the community-based senior high school and complementing government efforts in the education sector.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Fiapre near Sunyani, Obrempong Prof Amponsah II said the intervention was necessary due to the rapid growth of the school and the increasing demand for classroom space to enhance teaching and learning.
As part of additional support, he also donated 700 sets of dual desks to improve classroom conditions for students.
He noted that since its establishment in 2023 with 223 students, the school has expanded significantly and now hosts nearly 1,000 students, including boarding students, making infrastructure expansion urgent.
The chief called on government authorities, philanthropists, and indigenes of Fiapre both in Ghana and abroad to support the school with additional facilities, particularly a bus and pickup vehicle to aid administration and student mobility.
He urged students to remain disciplined and focused on their studies as the school continues to grow.
The Sunyani West Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Issah Baffoe, commended the chief for his generosity, describing his contribution as instrumental to the school’s development and academic progress.
