Residents of Damongo are set to benefit from improved road infrastructure following the commencement of work on a five-kilometre road project in the municipality.

The project, estimated at more than GH¢24.4 million, forms part of the government’s “Year of Roads” agenda aimed at improving road networks across the country.

At a sod-cutting ceremony to officially begin construction, Saeed Muhazu Jibril said the initiative marked the start of several development projects expected in the area.

The road project, being executed by Naschon Company Limited, includes a 3.5-kilometre bypass and an additional 1.5 kilometres of town roads. The construction is expected to be completed within 24 months.

Mr Jibril, who is also the Minister-designate for the Savannah Region, said government remained committed to expanding road infrastructure to support economic growth and improve transportation.

Also present at the ceremony was Samuel Abu Jinapor, who assured residents of his support and collaboration to ensure the timely completion of the project.

Mr Jinapor, who is also Minister-designate for Lands and Natural Resources, said the road project would enhance mobility and contribute to the development of the municipality.
