Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to building innovative, inclusive, and technology-driven education systems, with a focus on preparing African learners for the demands of the 21st century, Haruna Iddrisu has highlighted.
Speaking at the 4th Africa Education Summit, Ghana 2026, held at the University of Professional Studies, Mr Iddrisu’s remarks, delivered by Professor George K.T. Oduro, Technical Adviser, emphasized the importance of equity‑indexed education systems that leverage digital technologies to expand learning opportunities for every child, regardless of location or socio-economic background.
The summit, organized by Global Skills Hub under the theme “Advancing Edtech Integration in African Education: A Unified Roadmap for Action,” brought together policymakers, educators, and innovators to discuss strategies for integrating educational technology across the continent.
Mr Iddrisu stressed that Ghana’s education sector had made significant strides in digital integration and continued to pursue ambitious initiatives to place educational technology at the heart of national transformation. He noted that technology in education should go beyond access to devices, serving as a tool for meaningful learning and skill development.
Mr Honey Olawale, Director of Global Skills Hub, praised Ghana’s leadership in the sector and called for enhanced collaboration among African stakeholders to tackle educational and technological challenges, ensuring that technological progress translates into tangible benefits for learners across the continent.
The summit reinforced Africa’s shared vision for a digitally empowered education ecosystem that equips young people with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to thrive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
