Ghana has strengthened its presence within continental governance structures following the election of Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings as Second Vice President of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP).
The Klottey Korle Member of Parliament secured a decisive victory, polling 131 votes against her contender’s 51, signalling broad confidence from legislators across the continent.
Her elevation to the PAP Bureau places Ghana in a strategic position to influence high-level discussions on governance, democracy, and development within the African Union framework.
In her new capacity, she will contribute to shaping the Parliament’s legislative agenda, guide institutional priorities, and support efforts aimed at deepening regional integration and cooperation among member states.
Observers say the development reflects Ghana’s growing diplomatic footprint and active engagement in continental affairs, with expectations that her role will further amplify the country’s voice in policy debates affecting Africa’s future.
The Pan-African Parliament serves as a key advisory and legislative platform, bringing together representatives from across Africa to promote unity, democratic values, and coordinated development initiatives.
