Gomoa Central MP Accuses Ayine of Attempting to Bribe Parliament, Ayine Denies Allegations
A fierce online dispute between Ghana’s Attorney General, Dominic Ayine, and Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, A Plus, has exploded on social media, drawing sharp accusations of corruption and bribery.
The tension began when A Plus took to Facebook to accuse Ayine of attempting to bribe the Parliamentary Appointment Committee. In his explosive post, A Plus directly confronted Ayine, claiming, “According to my information, you went to beg for 500 thousand cedis that you were going to use to bribe the appointment Committee of Parliament.” The MP added fuel to the fire by calling Ayine an “old fool” and threatening to “reset his brain,” further escalating the situation.
Ayine, who had already defended himself against these allegations in earlier statements, was quick to respond. The Attorney General dismissed the accusations as baseless, insisting that they stemmed from his receipt of campaign funds from an individual named Mr. Sledge—a clarification he made in a bid to distance himself from any illicit activity.
Despite Ayine’s defense, A Plus remained adamant, doubling down on his accusations by calling Ayine a “thief” and warning the Attorney General not to attempt defending himself, or face further exposure.
The altercation, which has caught the attention of the public, raises serious questions about the integrity of key political figures. Ayine’s claim that the accusations are part of a misunderstanding over campaign finances seems to have done little to quell the fury of A Plus, who continues to press for accountability.
